Waking up early for work is usually not a pleasureful experience for me, but Friday morning was a little different. It is strangely easy to pop out of bed at 4:30 AM when you know the road trip of a lifetime is only a few hours away. The plan was simple, take our BRE Bandit Trans Am and meet our long time Power Tour friend just north of Atlanta in his 1967 Nova. We then made our way through the wonderfully twisty roads of northern Tennessee. Once in Kentucky, we met up with another old Power Tour veteran in his C5 Corvette. His latest El Camino project wasn’t quite finished for the trip, a typical car guy story. Once out of the great state of Kentucky we made our way through the long flat farming roads of Illinois and finally into Madison Wisconsin for a late night dinner (2AM) at a local diner.
Saturday we will be furiously preparing our Trans Am for the long week of Power Tour to come. Hopefully a local shop will let us borrow their lift to give the car a once over. Monday’s ride should be one of the most scenic as we make our way from downtown Racine, WI around Lake Michigan to South Bend, Indiana. The rest of the YearOne crew will be joining us Monday in South Bend.
Check back for more photos and videos to come.
